Yes, I do believe that international tourism is beneficial for local economies as it helps in generating more revenue, promotes local businesses and also helps in the proliferation of popularity of local culture among various countries.
When people from other countries visit our country, they try to experience everything in a way which resonates with the experiences of the local people. Many international tourists would love to try out the local specialties of different restaurants in a particular area, they would most probably be eager to taste the street food and also experience the local rides such as autos and rickshaws which are not available in their native countries, thus increasing the business of different local eateries and drivers. When they plan a vacation they would also need an accomodation to stay, thus this in turn helps in boosting the revenues of local hotels. The tourists would also be able to grasp a little knowledge about our culture, habits and mannerisms.
On the other hand, some tourists may arrive into our country with a negative prejudice against us. They may treat the local people with pride and may also not cooperate with the customs an cultures of a particular area leading to cultural appropriations and conflicts. Some people may not be able to adapt and change their ways according to the locals which will give rise to numerous misunderstanding amongst the locals and tourists thus marring image of their native country among the locals. They may also not know about the environment of the country and may also unknowingly disturb it, for instance chewing gums are banned in Singapore so us bringing gums into their environment and littering them will put the environment in jeopardy.
So, to sum it up, the advantages the international tourists bring outweigh the risks they can cause to the local tradition and environment. The tourists should be suggested to arrive into a country with an open mindset and a positive attitude so that both the locals and the tourists can have a good time.
