It is often argued that it is advantageous for country’s inner culture to bring in movies and TV programs for consumers while others believe these programs should be made locally. I believe that the best approach is not to choose exclusively between foreign and local content. I will discuss both views before explaining why I support to mix international and national programs.
Importing foreign media such as TV programs and movies can broaden citizens’ horizons by showing them different cultures, traditions and the ways of daily life. As a result, people can develop greater understanding about other cultures, which can also reduce stereotypes about particular nations.
However, countries should support domestic media industry because it helps to prevent county’s cultural value and identity which make country more popular and unforgettable. When countries produce their own movies and television programs, they can portray their unique traditions, values and lifestyles to younger generations. In addition, localization of cinema and TV industry creates more job opportunities rotating doming profit inside the country.
In my view, I believe that a combination of international and national programs is the most beneficial approach, as it allows people to experience foreign cultures while saving their own cultural identity. Therefore, instead of completely relying on either foreign or domestic content, countries should maintain a perfect balance between this two.
