It is sometimes argued that information related to scientific research, business, and academia should be shared freely. While this idea may bring certain benefits, I believe that valuable information in these fields should not be made freely available to everyone.
On the one hand, freely sharing knowledge can be beneficial to some extent. To begin with, when information is accessible on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, or YouTube, people can gain access to a vast source of knowledge. This can facilitate both their studies and work, enabling them to achieve personal and professional goals more effectively. For instance, many students are able to improve their IELTS performance by learning from free educational videos and online strategies.
On the other hand, I believe there are several reasons why information should be shared selectively. Firstly, making all information publicly available may create unfairness. This is because some individuals and organizations spend considerable time and effort conducting research, while others may benefit from these results without contributing equally. For example, companies often invest substantial time and money in developing new products. If business information were shared freely, competitors could easily copy ideas and produce similar products, reducing motivation for innovation.
In conclusion, although freely sharing information can provide certain advantages, I believe it should be restricted in some fields because unrestricted access may lead to unfairness and reduce incentives for creativity and research.
