Heritage sites are accepted as an integral part of countries and should be conserved carefully. Some people are in the opposite mind in preservation of them. I would approve the latter idea since the population could use the space for business and residential areas since today’s modern world is facing challenges such as overcrowding and a lack of employment opportunities.
On the one hand, ancient architectures serve more than just building – they play a pivotal role in representing cultural identity, as well as, a tool attract tourist, contributing to the economy of the city. Various castles or monuments are convinced as a landmark that both delivers historical value and information about legendary individuals from one generation to another and stand for international image of a certain society. The Statue of Liberty, for example, reminds Americans how their ancestors struggled to reach independence and symbolizes the United States, particularly New York, making everybody think about this megapolis whenever they hear the name of the landmark. Additionally, old pieces of infrastructure may grab the attention of travelers because of aesthetic features; as an outcome of it, the community could flourish financially. An obvious example would be the Taj Mahal in India that guests millions of impressed foreigners per year and assisting dwellers with monetary progress, like, trading products, offering accommodation and some other services. In the minds of these purposes, historical areas are frequently acclaimed and believed worthy to save.
On the other hand, what cannot be ignored easily is that humanity is undergoing global troubles with the limited availability of land for housing and commercial purposes to provide jobs. To be more precise, statistics have already proved massive problems related to insufficiency of space for houses, leading to a considerable increment in the number of homeless people over the globe. Again, India could serve as an instance where more than 40% of the society lives without their own homes throughout their lives since there does not exist enough room to construct more and more neighborhoods. Another huge point may be about the business and employment level. The ancient sites could follow the strategies of adaptive reuse or total renovation. New industries can be established instead of these buildings that create vacancies and simultaneously manufacture products with lower prices for locals or for import. When people are leading life with such crucial issues around them, restoring historical buildings would not be a feasible approach.
To conclude, ancient monuments might be beneficial to support cultural value among people and spread fame. However, it is not so effective to preserve them not just because their places could be used to accommodate the populace, but also because develop economical status of the community that are trending problematic topics nowadays. look at the task 2 and mark it according to ielts task 2
