These days, very little people turn on the television or flip through the pages of a newspaper; they may learn about the in one day every people to be a criminal. However, what is the most effective ways to deal with the rising of criminals in a society? Some people believed that the best way to reduce the number of criminals is to imprison during the whole life, because once someone commits a crime and gets away with it, they might be do it again. I completely disagree with this (statement) opinion and in this essay, I will support my idea with example.
Firstly, one of the reason why I disagree is people can change in their live. The reason of this, many former criminals have reformed and their life is (continue) ongoing to be honestly, because everyone makes a mistake and everyone has got a second chance to repair their mistakes.
On the one hand, one of the reason why I disagree is second chance through education. Because, when they come out the freedom, they have to earn money without illegal act. Thus, education gives people a way out of the criminal lifestyle. Learning new skills can help their how to earn money. Subsequently, another reason of my disagreement is supported from society or government. To exemplify, an article by French business club in 2020 revealed that in some countries, governments and non-profits offer reintegration programs that provide housing, counseling, and jobs for ex-offenders. These reduce repeat offenses.
Secondly, there is a disagreement that if offender’s punishment to be very hard and its behaviour was so bad, some justice systems focus on helping the criminal make things right with the victim, which encourage empathy and forgiveness rather than punishment alone. Furthermore, if they come out to freedom since more punishment, some people called their the “criminal” that gives their stress and they might be do the crime again. Thus, we have to believe in change gives them a reason to change.
By the way of conclusion, although it is a common believe that the best way to deal with the problem, I believe it is too soft and impractical for the majority of cases. Personally, I think while some may return to crime, it’s unfair to say that all criminals will always stay that way. With the right support and mindset, change is possible should be last opinion when all else has failed.
