School environments these days are more competitive due to the nature of students always trying to improve themselves. Some people argue rewards should only be to given to students who has the highest scores, while the others think students who improve the most should be rewarded better. This paragraph will discuss both sides of the argument, and I personally agree with the former one.
On one hand, there are a couple of factors explaining why improvements shown by students should be praised more. The primary reason for this method is it encourages students’ to study harder, recognizing progress rather than results can allow students to feel better about their achievements. However, if students are not rewarded accordingly to their progress, students might start to feel discouraged and lack motivation towards studying. As a result, overtime, students may develop negative attitudes regarding studying.
On the other hand, there are several reasons demonstrating why only should students with the highest academic results be rewarded. Firstly, recognition of intellectual abilities can give further motivation to students. Students will be able to achieve higher goals if given enough motivation. Additionally, a competitive school environment will be created. Students will compete against each other to get get rewarded more. As a consequence, students will reach their highest potential of off competing against other students.
In conclusion, there are a number of reasons why schools should reward the ones who show improvements. In my opinion, the ones who has better academic achievements should rewards more.
