The vast majority of people argue that it is essential to protect and maintain historical sites, while others believe that financial resources shoule be prioritized on modern infrastructure and human development. This essay will discuss both benefits and drawbacks of preserving historical buildings before giving my personal opinion.
A further benefit of maintaining historical buildings is that they are a part of cultural heritage. This is because those buildings might reflect human civilization in the past such as their custom, that will be a valuable legacy for future generations. Moreover, that preservation can promote national tourism due to its unique attractions. For example, Borobudur Temple in Jogjakarta is still exist and has significantly impact to the number of visitors, who enjoy that remakably temple.
On the other hand, there are also disadventagous to maintaining old building. This means that government should allocate a lot of money to keep it survive due to maintenance and operational costs. Nevertheless, it is believed that those budget would be beneficial to other developments. For instance, educational field and healthcare system are more crucial that should to be taken into account because they are related to current and future needs.
In my opinion, although preserving historical buildings is important as our national pride, focusing on vital allocation to country development is more necessary.
In conclusion, despite the fact that old sites should be taking care for legacy though generation and attract tourism, but it can also be costly and impractical. Therefore, the best solution is set the major funding allocation for national vital needs, without reduce the support funds for maintaining the cultural buildings.
