The debate over the public transportation cost centers around two significant opinions: free of cost and with cost. A minority people argue that public transport should be free of cost, whereas a majority believes that public transportation should include tickets. This essay will discuss both perspectives and offer my own opinion on the matter.
On one hand, a minority people think that public transportation should be free of cost. Public transportation is a significant part of lives of people who do not own any motor vehicles. A large number of people depend on public transportation as a means of moving from one place to another. As a result, the low income group has to spend a significant portion of money on transportation every month. This makes the low income group lives more miserable. For instance, as the low income group saves money on transportation, they can spent those money on something important; which will make their lives easier.
On the other hand, the majority people believe that public transportation should come with a cost. The government spends a huge amount of money on transportation every year. In order to run the public transportation, there are lots of expenses such as salaries of the drivers, daily maintenance, and oil refills. As a result, it is hard for the government to run the public transportation without charging money to the public for using the service.
In conclusion, I think that even though majority of people want the public transport to charge money, which is logical, the government should spent the tax money and make the public transportation free, in order to make a significant number of people’s lives easier.
