In today’s contemporary society, some people believe that schools should teach children with movies, computers, or innovative games, not with traditional books. While I believe that children can effectively learn with technology and innovative ways of learning, I believe that the traditional way of teaching is equally important for children’s positive development.
To begin with, some people believe that films, computers, and interactive games can enhance children’s participation in learning. Children are fascinated by the content of computers, interactive games, or films. For example, the content that is presented in films is very colourful and made of animations. Children often imagine themselves with those animations and fascinate more to learn about the specific topic. In addition, interactive games also encourage children to participate and compete with each other. Overall, they work hard to complete and win those games, eventually enhance their participation.
Nevertheless, films, computers, and other games can enhance children’s participation. These learning materials cannot replace the value of the traditional books. While reading books, children not only enhance their concentration level, but also improve their reading skills. These skills play a significant role in their lives. Furthermore, reading helps children to develop critical thinking skills with their own pace. For example, many studies suggest that reading books at their own pace led children to develop thoughtful and creative ideas.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that a balanced approach can provide children with a positive development. Whereas interactive ways of learning enhance children’s participation, traditional ways of learning help children to develop essential skills such as reading. Schools or guardians should combine these two methods of learning, which can enhance children’s overall wellbeing.
