Nowadays, most schools are producing students who shine in academics, and we could see a significant decline in the number of students who have not improved their grades. Yet, some think that schools ought to reward those who excel in academic performance, and a few believe that only those who provide profound improvement in their grades should be rewarded.
At present, academic results are the only criteria by which students are assessed in most schools. However, these criteria alone cannot define the performance of a student. To determine whether the student has really understood the topics that are taught in the classroom, lecturers should provide practical knowledge that relates to the theory. The academic excellence that is produced by the students may also be obtained by malpractice. So, we actually cannot reward students based on just exceptional educational performance.
As opposed to rewarding students with great academics, some students profoundly improve their scores and are sometimes not recognized. By giving credit to these students, we could highlight and emphasize their performance. This will aid and motivate them to produce increasing results. Proper feedback and a little recognition will considerably impact the result of students progressing in their studies. Students who are weak in their studies should also be encouraged to improve their standards by providing some rewards.
The commendation of students for their excellence in studies is acceptable only when they produce it genuinely, because students who effectively improve their marks are sometimes not recognizable. These grade sheets should not be the only benchmark for universities to award students.
