Many people argue that students ought to study academic subjects such as mathematics, science and history, while others believe that students should focus knowledge practical skills like cooking and carpentry. This essay will discuss both views and explain why I believe a balanced approach is best.
On the one hand, academic subjects are often said to be more essential to improve critical thinking in life. Subjects such as mathematics, history and science teach students logical thinking, problem solving, and providing the basis for professional fields like medicine, international relations, engineering, or technology. For instance it would be impossible to educate future engineers or doctors withour science subjects.
On the other hand, practical skills also require necessity for daily life and offer valuable career opportunities as well. Cooking, carpentry and similar skills shows independence and can lead to self-employment, especially for students who may not pursue higher education. For example, vocational training often prepares students for immediate entry to jobs such as the job market.
In conclusion, whereas academic education is viral for intellectual and professional development, practical skills are often used in real-life situations.
Therefore, i believe that both are necessary and schools ought to offer a balanced approach that includes academic and practical subjects.
