People have differing views regarding the scale of importance that studying history should be attached with. Some argue that it is vital for understanding the present, while others believe it is of no use. This essay will suggest personal opinion, but discuss viewpoints from multiple perspectives.
Definitely, history can impart a colossal amount of knowledge from the past to present dwellers of this world. By reading historical records or books, learners have a great opportunity to explore events of the past, such as wars, and apply that knowledge to analyse similar problems of the modern world. For example, people who were introduced with the background of world wars from the past century are usually more aware of the causes and consequences of political tension in the current world.
Admittedly, some people also justifiably believe that history has a little effect on people’s daily lives and thus should be neglected. Past events, despite being an invaluable source of information, may not possibly be beneficial for everyone. A considerable number of people nowadays are occupied in spheres that are not directly related to history. For such individuals, devoting an incredible amount of time to studying it will be of little value.
In conclusion, my position is that history deserves more attention, as it enables people to extract useful lessons from the past. By analyzing significant events in history, people will broaden their horizon in terms of the present global situation.
