In this era, economical air travel is an intensely debated topic. Numerous individuals think inexpensive international travel by plane causes many adverse effects; however, others presume that this trend gains various benefits. From my perspective, each of these opinions has its own merits.
There are numerous explanations to believe the former view. To start with, the aviation industry causes various severe environmental problems. Airplanes use a huge amount of fossil fuel, which is a non-renewable resource. When they work, they emit high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, contributing to the acceleration of climate change and that will negatively impact people’s health. Next, an influx of travelers can also lead to pollution. Many visitors with limited consciousness litter everywhere they go, leading to detract from the urban aesthetics. Moreover, overcrowded holiday destinations have a risk of an incident like the one that happened in Itaewon, Korea, October 2023. Thus, there are many problems that endanger the lives of local residents.
Nevertheless, it is also reasonable to support the former view. Firstly, making international travel more accessible can assist individuals to enhance their awareness. If people have a chance to go abroad, they can broaden their cultural experiences and many skills including foreign languages skill, communication skill and so on. In reality, numerous Vietnamese parents create the opportunities for their children to study abroad in various developed nations such as the USA, the UK or Australia. Secondly, air transports contribute to sustainable development. The convenience of airplanes can support foreign trade, leading to enhancing the economies of the world. Last but not least, making travel globally easier can help people to visit distant friends and relatives. Thus, individuals, especially overseas students will not be alone if they can visit their hometown usually.
In conclusion, due to aforementioned reasons, I believe that economical international travel has numerous advantages for nations and individuals’ living standards. However, the disadvantages also arise; therefore, people should mitigate the environmental impact from daily activities.
