The current situation of severe consequences caused by poor road safety has sparked debate and calls for an immediate solution. Some believe that increasing the age limit for driving can tackle the problem. In my opinion, I agree with this statement while there are a multitude of resolutions that hold superior significance.
First of all, proponents of this suggestion argue that young drivers are susceptible to reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit. This is due to their impulsive tendency and eagerness to prove themselves in front of their peers. Furthermore, there are numerous surveys proving that the majority of them do not thoroughly comprehend the driving safety rules which might prompt an increasing number of unexpected accidents and lawbreakers on the road. Besides, young drivers are also those who lack the life experiences to estimate all possible accidents and the severe punishment they must face subsequently. Hence, increasing the age restriction for driving can reduce the substantial population of road participants lacking accountability and further enhance road security.
However, this evolving legislation might cause certain inconveniences as unqualified individuals need to depend on others to commute or opt for public transportation. Accordingly, this might hinder autonomy and stimulate widespread discontent. However, several measures should be taken into consideration apart from the aforementioned one to promote secure driving on the road. The government should allocate investment in enhancing transportation infrastructure and expanding roads and highways to alleviate traffic volume and ultimately mitigate accidents. Since poor road maintenance and traffic congestion are the two primary grounds for accidents, the authority should pay heed to developing traffic facilities along with banning young drivers on the street.
In conclusion, I am of the strong conviction that the combination of this implementation and the infrastructure improvement can significantly encourage safer transportation system.
