Band 4+: Some people believe that the best way to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles. Others think that there are more effective ways to tackle environmental issues. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

A number of people think the most effective method to solve environmental issue is increasing the fuel prices. However, there are other good methods to help you in the same.

On one hand increament of prices of fuel would lead to a decrease in pollution as some people would not be able to afford it and thus this would lead to them taking busses or carpooling which means less cars on the road. For instance in India as the cost of fuel goes up they tend to share the rides and using public transport more. However, this would also lead to more burden of expenses on people and that leads to their standard of living to increase.

One the other hand there are other methods to solve these environmental pollutions such as increasing taxes on companies or factories that are emitting more toxic gases which would in turn lead them to decrease emissions of such. As the main factors of global warming and pollution are toxic gases released by them is reduced then our environment and climate would be safe.

In my opinion, although increasing the prices of fuel for motor vehicles can help in reducing environmental crisis it also affects a person’s life. The government officials should come up with best ways to decrease the pollution caused by factories as they are one of the major contributors of pollution and thus global warming.
