In recent decades, there has been a considerable amount of deliberation surrounding the government’s expenditure in both elderly and young people. Some people suggest that the government should be taking care appropriately to the senior people, while others believe that focus on young people should be a priority of government. This essay will discuss both views in greater detail before justifying my stance that the government expenditure should focus more on young people.
On one hand, proponents of taking care of elderly people argue that old people are physically weak, and contain a number of serious health conditions such as susceptibility to heart attacks or high blood pressure, which prevent them from having financial autonomy. Moreover, many young people choose to leave their old parents due to better work and study opportunities which are considered as a burden on society. If the government invests more money on senior citizens which provides more pensions and encourages the elderly to socialize, old people may not rely on their children and they still be able to afford domestic help.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that investing money on young people has numerous benefits that should not be overlooked. One significant advantage investment is on education. By providing better environments for studying and extracurricular activities, which can enhance their mental and physical development, young people who experience better education will be the backbone of a country’s economy in the future.
In conclusion, while there are valid arguments for taking care of old people, I believe that young people plays a crucial role in the modern era.
