In recent years, there has been a debate over whether the government should concentrate on investing in public transportation to avoid congested roads and natural disasters, while another group of people considers building more roads as a solution.
On one hand, those who support investment in more public transportation are trying to avoid two problems. So to say, kill two birds with one stone. Traffic jams are common, daily problems that give headaches to everyone who faces them. However, if there is a good, considerable option like this, it should be made. Furthermore, by this investment, we could demonstrate and remind people what really matters: saving and protecting our own space, our Earth. Persuade people to be concerned about not only daily, visible problems, but moreover about global problems, even if they are not as apparent as other ones.
On the other hand, some widely believe that just building more roads is the best idea. It really makes sense. For transport owners, who are likely to use public transportation, or for those who cannot afford using it, due to dissimilar itineraries or job properties, constructing more roads to make the riding zone wider and stop suffering from and wasting time on stuffed-up roads is as logical as the first variety.
Comparing and considering the pros and cons of each variety, I came up with my own opinion on this certain topic. I am inclined to believe that government investment in public transportation is a better option from any side of view. Due to the fact that, as a consequence of establishing more roads, we would face another and even bigger problem: air pollution. Air pollution is a strong argument to not consider the second variety as an option, while public transportation investment mitigates pollution.
