The internet has become an important part of modern life, and many people say it helps bring people closer together. In my opinion, I agree with this idea to some extent, but there are also negative sides that should not be ignored.
On the one hand, the internet makes communication easier and faster than before. People can talk to friends and family through social media, video calls, or email no matter where they live. For example, a student studying abroad can still keep in touch with their parents every day. In addition, online communities allow people with similar hobbies or interests to connect, which creates strong friendships even without meeting in real life.
On the other hand, the internet can sometimes make people feel more distance. Many people spend too much time on their phones or computers instead of meeting others face to face. This may reduce real human connection and make relationships weaker. Moreover, online communication is often less emotional than talking in person, which may cause misunderstandings.
In conclusion, the internet has definitely helped people connect across distances, but it cannot completely replace direct, especially face-to-face interaction. Therefore, I partly agree with the statement, as the internet can both bring people closer and push them apart depending on how it is used.
