Tourist has become a multi-billion industry, enriching numerous countries and providing a chance for people to forget about their daily routine and extract full enjoyment from life. Thus, certain instructions were developed for tourists to hold to such as respecting local customs and adhering to environmental regulations while visiting other nations. However, some individuals think that it is not obligatory to worry about them as they prevent deriving full pleasure from a trip. In my opinion, there are two main responsibilities for tourists to stick to while they are abroad.
First, some tourists are not considerate to foreign country and, therefore, they deliberately litter streets by throwing beverage bottles where they wish. This is mainly caused by the notion that the country they are temporarily in is not their homeland. Thus, they believe that it is not necessary follow environmental rules. For example, some hotels are not so eager in welcoming Russians, as some of them are notorious for ignoring hotel’s internal policy by not following the fixed environmental rules.
Moreover, it is highly important to honor a host country’s customs and traditions. For instance, some European women wear their customary clothes such as mini-skirts or provocative clothes when they travel to Muslim regions, which can be regarded as offensive to the locals. Thus, tourists should be informed beforehand about the country’s special characteristic and about the things that should or should not be done.
To sum up, while some individuals hold the idea that it is not mandatory four tourists to obey another country’s customs and traditions, I am inclined to think that to avoid public censure we must hold a host country’s domestic regulations in esteem and never throw garbage.
