Some would argue that it is better to avoid tax payments while others are of the opinion that it is a moral duty to pay the tax since they accept that it is the sole source of revenue generation in a country. This essay intends to discuss the latter point of view and I will state the reasons for my belief.
On one side of the argument, there are people who hold the view that it is better to keep the tax money rather than pay it to the government. The most compelling reason for having that belief is the dissatisfaction towards the ruling government. Lack of infrastructure, poverty, and unemployment are some challenges which breed this circumstance. Moreover, higher tax rates also tempt people to tax avoidance or tax evasion.
Despite the above argument, I am of the view that it is the primary responsibility of a citizen to pay taxes and take part in the fundamental way of supporting the country. Indeed, one reason to take this position is that a country finds money to run government administration, operate various systems in the country and provide basic amenities through the taxes paid. If the tax payment is being neglected by the people, then there would be no way to move forward and provide services to people.
There are several benefits of paying tax. Based on eligibility criteria, one would be provided with exemptions and financial assistance. The right to claim their privileges would be promised upon proper and timely tax payment. People would receive better services for the tax they pay. Tax revenue can guarantee the complaints or suggestions from a citizen are addressed utilizing the money they pay in this belief.
Summing up, I reiterate my opinion by saying that paying taxes is never something that should be avoided and it offers several benefits to the residents of the country. It is recommended that government should impose strict laws to ensure compliance among taxpayers.
