In the past, sports were often seen as a fun activity with little importance for learning or personal growth. However, as time went on, society became to recognize the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of sports. Although some still argue that sports can distract students from their studies, adding sports to the school timetable is essential. The majority believe that engaging in physical activities and playing sports is highly essential.
It is widely accepted that doing sports offers a great opportunity for children to grow physically and mentally. Firstly, participating in sports in school can help acquire skills and allow them to be responsible, motivated, and cooperative. In addition, these playing events can be a great option to break the monotony of a strict school schedule. Besides, scientists have proven that playing sports helps in reducing stress, anxiety, and balance hormones in the body.
On the other hand, some believe that doing sports is unnecessary, arguing that the practice time needed for sports may affect the academic studies of students. Not to mention, that they state that in today’s society students have become over competitive to win which may have a negative impact on the students’ academic performance. According to this view, school sports can become a negative aspect if they deviate from the educational experience that schools are mainly responsible for.
Conclusively, despite some arguments about the irrelevance of doing sports, it is clear that doing it helps students mentally and physically. In my opinion, practicing sports would not only help students emotionally, but it will also make them responsible by managing their time.
