Learning any new language has a lot of benefits. Many people believe that while teenagers’ schooling it is very important to teach them a foreign language, but others think that this is waste of time, and it must be spent on learning technology and other essential subjects. In my opinion learning a new language is more beneficial.
On one side of the argument, there are people who hold the opinion that learning about technology and other vocational subjects in school is essential. The most prominent reason behind this thinking could be that the current time is completely about technology, day-by-day usage of technology is getting higher and for surviving, having knowledge about technology is very important. Another reason could be competition, usage of technology is rising, it is simply assumed that demand for people who are well-known with technology will be increased. So, having knowledge of advanced technology can grow their career very easily, and they will not suffer from unemployment.
Despite the above arguments, I am of the view that teaching a foreign language is more beneficial, because once children complete their schooling or studies, technology may get advanced or changed or may be sometimes outdated, while language remains unchanged with time, so if they learn language instead of technology and other subjects it would help them more. Furthermore, having knowledge of multiple languages can increase opportunities for jobs and careers, as it opens opportunities across nations. They can get higher salaries and living standards once they get jobs in other developed nations.
In conclusion, while both views are commonly held in society, I believe that learning a foreign language is more important rather than learning about technology or other subjects. Because technology may get updated or changed, it may not be helpful as a language could be.
