There is an argument between few regarding the packaging of products and whose responsibilty it is, producer or consumer, to reduce this. Some believe it is the duty of manufacturers whereas some have the view that customers should avoid purchasing products with lot of packaging. This essay discusses on the responsibilty of customer.
As a producer, it is their job to make their products look fancy and desirable to the customers even at the cost of a lot of packaging but we as consumers can decide whether or not we want the product by analysing its use and purpose rather than it’s outer appearance. For instance, the same product on social media like instagram, facebook can be fascinating with fancy packaging including a bubble wrap, some confetti around the product and delivered in a cute printed box. However, same product on local store may not have same kind of appeal as they are not packaged well. But we as consumer need to see that both of the are the same thing.
Packaging can be a good advertising and selling point to the producers to make their product stand out from the competition. However, consumers need to be aware enough to buy products that are actually necessary and beneficial to us. There are many stores where we can hear the producers rave about their packaging in their sales pitch but to little of their product but consumers get to decide where they want to spend on.
No matter how captivating the appearance look like consumers can decide whether or not they want the product.
