People have conflicting views about where the taxpayers’ money should be allocated. Some assert that this source of money should be first invested in healthcare, while others state that there are more important priorities to spend the money on. Both views are justifiable, yet I personally gravitate towards the former as medical care has a vital role to play in the overall development of a country.
On the one hand, investing tax to other fields rather than healthcare is attractive for several reasons. Many people believe that it is important to allocate money to the conservation of endangered animals since it can alleviate ecological imbalance and preserve biodiversity. For example, due to the vanishing of some types of rhinos in their natural habitat, some of its predators are also on the edge of extinction because of food shortages. Channel money into charity is another thing that people want to be prioritized. They claim that by diverting funding to voluntary activities, more settlements can be built, more sustenance could be shared and as a result the needy would have better lives.
On the other hand, I would argue that healthcare should be where the taxpayers’ money is allocated mostly. One undeniable effect is that there are more particular diseases and illnesses rising. In most countries, the cost paid for vaccines, medicines, and medical treatments are usually extortionate. Had it not been for the money from the taxpayers, many people would have lost their lives. Moreover, the remedies and treatment facilities for those patients are often extremely expensive and that hospitals may find themselves struggling with financial problems without assistance from the tax system.
In conclusion, although prioritizing investment in healthcare is disapproved of by some people, people can obtain great benefits from spending tax on this field and thus medical care should be firstly considered when it comes to diverting taxpayers’ money.
