Band 5: Some people say that domestic animals such as cats, should not be raised in the city. Agree or disagree? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Some people think cats shouldn’t live in the city, but I don’t really agree with that. I think it can be okay for cats to live in the city, but it’s important to take good care of them.

First, cities can be a bit dangerous for cats. There are lots of cars, and sometimes cats can run into the street and get hurt. Also, there might be other animals in the city that could be mean to cats. So, if you have a cat in the city, you need to be extra careful and keep them safe. Maybe you can have a special area where they can play outside but can’t run away.

But, also, I think cats can be really happy in the city! They can have a cozy home with their humans, and they can get lots of love and attention. Plus, sometimes there are even little gardens or safe balconies where they can sit in the sun and watch the world go by. And, you know, cats are pretty good at finding their own fun, even inside.

Maybe the most important thing is that the cat has a good owner. If someone loves their cat and takes care of it properly, it doesn’t matter so much if they live in the city or in the countryside. They need food, water, and someone to play with them. And they need to feel safe and loved.

I think cats can live in the city as long as their owners are responsible and make sure they are safe and happy. It’s not really about where they live, but how they are treated.
