Certain group of people believe that universities should be accessible to everyone without any cost.
I agree with this idea because education is a fundamental right of each individual and plays an important role in social equality and the economies of countries.
Firstly, one main reason why education should be free is that it can help governments to alleviate poverty, helping individuals to have at least basic literacy skills so, they can even land an average paying job. With equal access to education, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds can have the opportunity to attain higher level of education regardless of the financial status of their family. For example, According to several studies, literacy rate is much lower in rural areas compared to the cities, demonstrating the need for equal educational opportunities.
Secondly, Providing equal access to education does not only benefit the individuals but also the society itself. Individuals who have access to cutting edge educational programs give back to their community, contributing the economy of their country. For instance, some public universities, such as in Germany, higher education is tuition-free, allowing students to pursue higher education, which at the same time strengthens workforce of the country.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with the idea that education should be free of charge to everyone, since it can provide people from different socioeconomic levels with opportunities to live at better life standards and contribute to the economy of their country.
