Evidently, opponents of learning history may claim that history is irrelevant and meritless in contemporary society. Specifically, this subject is conveyed to students without real experience such as visiting historical museums or watching documentary films, forcing them to learn to pass the exam rather than gain valuable lessons. For example, secondary students in Vietnam are obliged to memorize a barrage of timelines and events within a session, which results in resentment towards the subject. Moreover, with the dominance of the technology industry, individuals, especially the young, might overlook history as they assume it has already been old-fashioned. This is due to its limited practical application to innovation, despite the fact that it provides invaluable political lessons.
However, those who favor history can argue that history plays an instrumental role in shedding light on the current situations. A compelling point is that history enables individuals to acknowledge how the world has changed over time, thereby avoiding past mistakes and paving the way for further transformation.
