There is a view that an individual’s choice of attire can provide much information about his character and background. In this essay I would explain why I wholeheartedly agree with that statement, providing reasons which consolidate my agreement.
To begin with, it is important to acknowledge that the dress sense of many people is reflective of their culture and interests. This is because in many cultures there is a particular code for how to dress appropriately. For instance, if we see a man wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase, we can make a fair guess that he is steeped in business culture. Because of these social symbols, it is possible to quickly ascertain that people live in one culture instead of another.
However, From my standpoint, there are always limits on knowing a character’s features from individuals’ clothes. To illustrate, As the saying goes, ‘never judge a book from its cover’, given that if a woman was wearing a black dress, at a glimpse we could say that she is feeling depressed, but it is possible that she might be at a funeral. Another example could be, many people look good in black outfits and actually they are delighted and cheerful, and thus they wear it not because they are feeling morose.
In conclusion, however, people’s choice of what they wear can expose much information about their backgrounds and interests. From my perspective, this assertion could not be true all the time since many people wear clothing according to events they attend.
