Many people believe that a person’s taste in clothes can express his or her cultural background and personality. However, I strongly disagree with this statement. From my point of view, it is impossible to judge people according to their clothes.
On the one hand, some people support the opinion that people’s clothing style cannot represent their character but it can only define people’s fashion preference. For the reason that humans wear clothes based on situations and occasions. Furthermore, in the past people wore clothes related to their culture while today they are more likely to wear clothes from all over the world. Mixing traditional wear with modern fashion has become a popular trend as well. For instance, as we look for Uzbek culture and traditions, atlas and adras are conventional fabrics. If someone wears an Adras dress, it does not mean she is Uzbek or she is from Asia.
On the other hand, it is often believed that the best way to indicate a person’s nature and culture by his clothing. In accordance with psychological evidence, colours of clothes define personality. For example, someone who wears red is an extrovert and who likes blue is an introvert. In contrast, it is not always true. Another reason why clothes can express cultural identity is that in some countries outfits can tell a lot about culture indeed. Almost all women in India wear a saree. It is possible to differentiate Indian people in their dress. Despite the fact, not all nation wear their cultural clothes.
In conclusion, while people may vary in their opinion, I think that it is sometimes easy to define someone’s culture with outfits but not always. Clothes can not determine personality.
