People hold different opinions about whether parents should do storytelling for their children at night, whereas some argue that there are other resources help teenagers hear stories in the life. I generally believe parents would rather spend their time doing storytelling than other sources.
On the one hand, some argue that there are a few positive aspects on storytelling by using sources like Internet and TV programs. First of all, the social media has wide range of stories. Not only does young people access unlimited content, but they also gain diverse cultural perspectives, broadening their worldview. Moreover, the sources like internet and TV use engaging visuals, animated storytelling and sounds which make stories more vivid and enjoyable. In addition, parents can use time-saving resources on storytelling. If parents are busy, readily available contents help children increase imagination on storytelling.
On the other hand, if children listened stories from their parents, it would be advantageous for all. Firstly, storytelling from others helps children improve their memory development. For instance, listening to parents helps children improve vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension. Secondly, whenever only parents have experience to choose stories that teach values like kindness and perseverance. Not only do parents explain stories but they also can pause to answer their children’s questions. Thirdly, some parents may have oral stories from their ancestors. If parents told stories for their children, it would be beneficial because oral storytelling keeps cultural heritage alive.
In conclusion, although, storytelling from parents plays a significant role of children’s life, parents also need to use sources like TV and Internet for youngsters to listen to them enjoyably.
