Education and entertainment for children are always top priority for those who are raising kids. Many parents choose to spend time reading or telling stories to their children as an effective way to educate and bond with them. However, the continuous development of books, stories, TV, and the internet has made it easier for children to access a wide range of entertainment and educational content without parents involvement. As a result, some parents believe that reading stories to their children is no longer necessary. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own viewpoint.

Consequently, it is understandable why some find parents need to spend time on reading or telling stories to children.
On the other hand, those who believe that parents don’t need to tell stories to their children argue that in today’s rapidly advancing digital age, there are many ways for children to independently find educational and entertaining content without the need for their parents. For example, there are numerous YouTube channels that teach children about various fields like science and social studies in a fun and engaging way. Moreover, this helps to foster independence and self-reliance in children. To illustrate, when children are allowed to choose what they want to watch or read, they learn how to make decisions on their own and develop their own interests.
To conclude, both sides of the opinions offer valid arguments. However, it is crucial to consider the potential negative effects of children’s free access to information sources such as books, stories, TV channels, and the internet, such as issues with time management and exposure to inappropriate content. Therefore, although there are some inconveniences when parents spend time reading or telling stories to their children, i believe that this is an effective method of education, entertainment, and family bonding.
