In the contemporary era, cooperation in science has always been sparking a fier ce debate amongst people. While some individuals contend that scientists should collaborate with each other to carry out researc h, others firmly believe that coop eration may lead to certain detrimental issues. This essay attempts to weigh the merits of both perspectives, ultimately representing my personal stance.
Proponents of the former standpoint assert that collaboration would help bring about objective results. In detail, working with professionals po ssessing the same passions and mindsets would facil itate the process of assembling ideas since they can avoid disputes as well as having a chance to share their personal perspectives more easily. Hence, an overall aggregation of ideas can be shown, helping scientists go into each detail and discuss them more thoroughly, thus upgrading the precis ion of the study. This approach also significantly promote individual confidence since each member engaging in the research can freely sh are their perspective rather than suppres sing them in their mind, meaning that one can contribute to the result of the study equally.
However, I am more convinced o f the latter standpoint since coll aboration amongst professionals possessing unfa miliar mindsets would bring about negative results rather than efficiency in work. To be specific, each scientist while studying in the same profession do not share the same interests and goals or posse ss similar capabilities. Thus, the assembling of these scientists might ultimately be an unwise approach since conflicts and disputes stemming from different ideas can be eas ily sparked. A group of scien tists in Sweden, for instance, carried out an intensive research about the development of pollinators around the world in 2018. Despite receiving high expectations from the public, this study eventually went down the drain as each member drifted apart due to confl icts in their ways to collect data.
In conclusion, even though it is undeniable that cooperation in scientific r esearch can bring about positi ve implications, this approach might lead to remarkable downsides which detrimentally affect the overall efficiency of the study. Therefore, each scientist must identify their objectives carefully before participating in any proposal for collaboration, helping them stay away from potential consequences.
