Nowadays, it is noticeable that people are deeply concerned about success and achievement. However, there is a hot debate whether hard work or natural talent plays a more crucial role in achieving success. Some people maintain that diligence and perseverance are the most important factors of success. Others argue that natural talent is also one of the most essential elements of outstanding achievement. Personally, I totally agree with the former notion because of two testaments about Thomas Edison and Abraham Lincoln.
To begin with, persistence can enable individuals to overcome difficulties. On the road to success, individuals inevitably experience some challenges such as failures, financial burden, or loss of enthusiasm. However, consistent effort and determination are supposed to be one of the most effective ways to grapple with obstacles . A clear example of hard work can be seen in the case of Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison has been widely known for improving the design of the Incandescent Light Bulb. He spent several years experimenting in order to invent the electronic light bulb. Throughout this process, although he failed more than one thousand times before achieving success, he did not give up and continued to work persistently in his laboratory. Eventually, his determination and dedication made the light bulb become one of the most important inventions in modern history. Edison’s story clearly illustrates how perseverance and hard work can lead to remarkable achievements.
In addition, relentless efforts allow individuals to gradually improve their skills. Though it is undeniable that exceptional natural talent can yield benefits for individuals on their success road, consistent practice may help people master several skills, which are the key factor leading to outstanding achievement. Due to industriousness, numerous individuals can learn from mistakes, gain more experiences, even outperform those who possess innate abilities, but do not practice enough. An obvious example of skill improvement through hard work can be seen in the life of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was born in a poor family and had very little formal education. Instead of attending school regularly, he educated himself by reading books and practicing whenever he had time. Over several years, his legal knowledge and social skills become superior, assisting a lot to his later career. Ultimately, he became one of the most influential presidents in American history, demonstrating the advantages of persistent attempt and dedication.
In conclusion, from my perspective, I extremely advocate the idea that the majority of remarkable long-term achievements are the result of perseverance and relentless endeavours. The first reason is that persistence helps people deal with difficulties and continue pursuing their goals. The second reason is that industriousness enables individuals to gradually improve their potential abilities.
