Some people are of claim that advertising is mainly used to boost the sale rates of unnecessary items for customers. Personally, while this opinion holds some validity, I partly disagree with this statement as the employment of advertisement caters to a much wider range of purposes other than that.
On the one hand, there are some persuasive rationales that support the opinion that advertisement help businesses provide more information of their low-sale products to a wide range of customers. Advertised products are normally unnecessary such as luxury and fashion items or processed food that make businesses rely on their products’ advertisement in order to enhance brand recognition and make them access to potential customers which is beneficial for the growth of their revenues. Moreover, some companies tend to exaggerate the functions of their products and rent several celebrities and influencers to generate the familiarization of their products with customers which can lead them to make a decision of purchasing without a distinct need.
On the other hand, ads also play a key role in shifting up the number of sales of newly-launched products or available products. Nowadays, in the fierce competition of the market, several innovative and highly quality items generally do not reach customers simply by they are not widely known. An primary example of this is Vinfast, whenever they generate a new electric car, they will held an exhibition in order to introduce its upgraded functions and how to use these new functions effectively to their target audience. As a result, ads not only keep sales for unwanted products, but also educate customers on the introduction of new innovative items.
In conclusion, although the goal of advertisement is enhance the sale rates of unessential products, I believe that there are another objective of advertising that are the same vital compare to that one such as increasing brand recognition and promoting newly items or highly products which having low awareness of audience.
