Nowadays, there is a believe among people that the sole cause for learning a foreign language is travelling or working in a foreign country. But there are some who think different. They think these are not the only reasons why one should opt to learn a foreign language. I will try to give my views and opinion on this matter below.
To travel in a foreign country or for working in another country, the knowledge of their language is must. Without this, they cannot communicate with their employers. If they are able to speak fluently in foreign language, the scope for their progress or promotion in their respective job fields will be more. Besides this, the command over foreign language will help them to settle in that particular country if they have any future plans for that. But I don’t think these are the main reasons for learning a foreign language.
With the development of technology, the world has come to hand. We can do meetings with any people over the world. For proper understanding of their words, we need to learn their language. Other than that, if we have a particular interest in any work, to learn that skill we might need to learn a particular language. Knowing a new language helps us to know about the world more. It also helps in broadening our mind. Furthermore, it helps to enrich our knowledge about human history.
To conclude, most of employers today seek employees who are multi-skilled. Additionally, they prefer the people who know more than their native language. So, I think travelling and working are not the sole reasons behind learning a new language
