It is sometimes argued that tourism causes numerous harmful impacts on the destinations that people visit. I completely disagree with this idea and my reasons will be given below.
In my opinion, tourism plays a key role in boosting the local economy. Hot tourist spots which are also big markets attract more foreign investors to come and invest. Moreover, tourism improves tax revenue for the government. Therefore, more national budget to allocate for infrastructure, transportation to serve tourists and residents. Tourism likely contributes to better living standards. According to VnExpress, countries such as Thailand and Vietnam rely on tourism, which generates high-quality services for tourists, not only in hospitality but also in transportation and local industries.
Another point to consider is that tourism promotes cultural exchange and understanding between different countries. It allows locals and visitors to share and learn about each other’s traditions and customs. Besides, tourism possibility strengthens the diplomatic relationships between countries as they lower the visa requirements for overseas travellers to boost international travel. A striking illustration for this point is that native residents could approach foreign languages and introduce local history or historical events that occurred in the areas to travellers.
In conclusion, I totally disagree with some arguments that tourism has a detrimental impact on the nations where tourists visit because of the reasons listed above.
