Families celebrate special, meaningful events and make them unforgettable for relatives and friends. Weddings and birthdays are the most widespread celebrations that are remembered forever with pictures and videos. These events are important because they represent traditions and social rituals depending on the contexts of each society. While I believe these events deserve to be celebrated, many times, people spend too much money to afford everything needed to throw them.
Weddings and birthdays are two of the most representative celebrations of traditions a social rituals. People get married in a court of law and, then, decide to throw a party that will amaze guests until dawn. In my culture, there are special birthdays that are celebrated with splendor, such as the coming-of-age celebration of girls turning 15 years of age. This is a social event that every family expects to have because it represents the transition from teenage years to womanhood in a girl’s life.
However, many people, who are willing to have an unforgettable party, usually do not calculate correctly the amount of money needed to throw it. There have been many examples of families that try to afford expensive, stylistic parties with loans. They enjoy one incredible night but, later on, have trouble to pay the amount of money required for that loan. Fifteen years old girls whose parents try to fulfill the wishes of their daughter, end up with debts difficult to pay. To illustrate, in my country, it is common that
girls ask to arrive to the party in carriages, celebrate it in expensive places with lakes and founrtains, have separated dancing floors for adults and teenagers, and eat delicious exclusive food.
In conclusion, special celebrations rooted in tradition and social rituals should be celebrated by families and friends everywhere. However, families should throw parties that they are able to afford to avoid getting in serious debt. One night can be unforgettable, but that should not be a cause for concern in the furure. Therefore, having a more modest celebration with loved ones would be more appropiarite and will have a happier ending after the celebration is over.
