To what extent do you agree or disagree? Some argue that a country should aim to produce all the food needed for its population and minimise food imports. I completely agree with this view because increasing domestic food production enhances national independence and significantly strengthens the economy.
The primary reason I support this approach is that boosting domestic food production ensures a country’s self-sufficiency and independence. When a nation can produce a wide range of food locally, it becomes less vulnerable to global market disruptions, trade restrictions, or geopolitical tensions. For example, during international conflicts or pandemics, countries that rely heavily on imports may face food shortages. In contrast, self-reliant nations can continue to feed their populations without external dependency.
Another reason to support the idea that improvement of domestic food production could make a country’s economy better. Increasing food production can increase manufacturing numbers and as a result can more vacancies for a country’s people. Moreover, population consumption of these local products may guarantee a strong position in the world economy. For example, during World War II, the USSR opened thousands of vacancies in production, which helped create many producing centres in the country.
In conclusion, I completely agree that countries should strive to produce as much of their own food as possible. This approach not only ensures national independence but also supports economic development by creating jobs and strengthening internal markets.
