Many people believe that cooking is an essential subject that should be taught in schools. I strongly believe that learning how to cook doesn’t belong in schools, and schools must focus on modern, more important topics that are necessary for today’s society.
To begin with, I believe that cooking is easier to teach at home. Parents most probably know how to cook and it’s a fun and bonding activity that can happen with them if it is needed. Secondly, I believe students’ education must focus on subjects that are crucial for the modern era, like computers and technology or financial management. In addition, let’s not forget that there are technical high schools that are specific for students who are passionate about cooking and similar handicraft subjects.
On the other hand, providing every school with the necessary equipment will cost plenty of money. In contrast, this money can be invested in schools with a different purpose, like upgrading the students’ experience with projectors or more powerful computers. Let’s keep in mind that every week groceries and expert teachers are also a crucial factor that should be discussed.
To sum up, I am convinced that cooking should not become a subject in schools. It is an excellent activity or hobby to happen at home or in specialized schools, like technical high schools. It is a lesson that will cost a lot of money, for Ministry of Education, which can be well spent on many different and more vital needs.
