There is a view that employers should not care about the work uniform of their employees, since the quality of their work matters a lot. However, I disagree with this opinion for two main reasons.
There are strong arguments for enhancing workmanship instead of focusing on workers’ dress. The primary concern is often the efficiency of tasks completed by employees. Occupations such as online store owners, IT managers, and online tutors do not require a strict dress code to do their jobs, because customers usually care about the service or productivity rather than the way workers dress. Another major factor is the convenience of employees while they are doing their stuff. With the work uniforms being uncomfortable, the standards of work may be neglected, decreasing the number of customers of a proper company.
These arguments notwithstanding, I believe that employees’ dress in work should remain necessary and formal. Disregarding the uniforms in jobs, ultimately, would lead to segregation among both employers and workers. Everyone has the right to wear whatever they want, but not everyone is equal when it comes to financial conditions. Sometimes, by having everyone wear the specific uniform according to their jobs, we can prevent social discrimination among employees. Furthermore, in some companies, uniforms mean so much by promoting their brand, and this is how marketing works. In these kinds of jobs, being in the same suits that are related to their occupation would increase income and customers.
In conclusion, some feel that dress codes are either necessary or more valuable than the quality of work, since in some jobs, mostly online ones, being ready in uniform does not affect tasks. In my opinion, however, this would be a reason for segregation, or the lack of some benefits comes from the name of a brand on customs. Although oftentimes clothes do not matter in business, they help to get a bit more benefits rather than being in a cloth we want.
