There are split opinions regarding the issue of GM(genetically modified) foods. While some individuals tend to think that GM food is necessary for growing population, while others argue against that they will act as a catalyst for a future risks on environmental well-being and on individuals health. This essay will discuss both views, and explain why I am more inclined to support first perspective.
Examining the former opinion, one of the primary arguments put forward by its supporters is that the lack of the natural products. This is because nowadays a natural food, which was created by products without GMOs, is vulnerable to environmental stress. As a result, in most cases it leads to loss of a harvest, for example, because of a climate disasters. In contrast, growing GM crops allows them to tolerate drought or other challenging conditions. This will help save more food, which will be especially helpful as the population continues to grow rapidly.
On the other hand, proponents of the latter view argue that the use of GM foods will have environmental consequences. This is primarily because modified genes may spread to related plants under certain circumstances. They believe that eating only genetically modified products will affect people’s health. Therefore, these effects require careful monitoring.
In conclusion, having considered both perspectives, i acknowledge that food containing GMOs may pose to healts risks and lead to environmental problems. Nevertheless, I am more inclined to believe that genetically modified foods is important for growing society, primarily because of rapid population growth and we have bo chance to loss any amount of food because of a climate disasters.
