Some individuals argue that history has relatively no impact on us at present, while others believe that acknowledging the past history improves our understanding of the current era. In my opinion, history makes up a very important part of our present lives because all the innovations available now are a result of trials from the past.
On the one hand, it is argued that this rapidly developing period is totally different from the past, therefore, familiarity with the history is deemed unnecessary. For example, knowing the history of mobile phones will not help in the enhancement of its technological features, such as face identification or fingerprint scans. This is because all these aspects were not available in the past; therefore, looking back at history is said to be a waste of time. However, I believe that by studying history, people will gain a deeper understanding of the beginning of inventions and discoveries that led to today’s innovations.
On the other hand, some people think that history has shaped the current era and acknowledging it will help them understand all the attempts and objectives that were made in the past. For instance, if not for the multiple failures that Thomas Edison made to invent the first light bulb, people would have still lit candles. Therefore, I believe that all the modern technologies we encounter today are due to historical approaches.
In conclusion, although the past era is completely different from the current one, I think that the historical events help us have a full understanding of the history of inventions and discoveries.
