With the rapid growth of digital technology, online education has become an ubiquitous source to attain knowledge. Owing to this, some people argue that children no longer need to attend school, whereas, others, believe that school-based education remains essential for children’s overall development. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my concluding opinion.
On the one hand, supporters of online education believe it offers flexibility and convenience, as children can learn things at their own pace from any location. For example, online platforms provide a myriad of recorded lessons and interactive quizzes which students can use repeatedly until they fully understand their desired topics. Although this approach is efficient for academic learning, it mainly focuses on theoretical knowledge only.
On the other hand, the opposing people are of the opinion that schools play a crucial role in kid’s personality development. In-person classes make children learn important skills such as teamwork, discipline, and communication through daily interaction, In addition, schools provide a structured environment helping students develop routines and self-control habits. Because children are still developing mentally and emotionally, face-to-face guidance is essential for their balanced growth.
In my opinion, although online learning is a useful learning medium, it cannot fully replace traditional schools. This is because education is not only about gaining knowledge but also about developing social skills and values. Therefore, learning in schools remains essential for children’s long-term success, even in the digital age.
