With the rapid growth of technology, online education has become increasingly popular. Owing to this, it is claimed that physical schools are not redudant because children can study online, while some believe that traditional schooling is still indispensable. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own view.
On the one hand, supporter of online education believe it offers considerable advantages. Firstly, it provides flexibility in term of time and location. Children can access lesson from home and learn at their own pace, which is especially helpful for those students who live in remote areas. For example, during COVID-19 pendamic, my cousin in a small village continued his studies through online classes when local schools were closed. Moreover, online platform offers video lectures and games, which can make learning more convenient for students who find textbooks tedious.
On the other hand, many people argue that schools play a role that goes beyond academic. Schools help children to develop skills by allowing them to communicate with peers and teachers face-to-face. For example, group projects and sports teach teamwork and communication, which are difficult to pick up via screen. Furthermore, not all students have the self-discipline to study alone at home. As a physics teacher, I have noticed that many students grasp complex ideas better when they can ask question in person and carried out by experiment in real lab.
In my opinion, although online learning is a valuable tool but it should not replce schools entirely. The ideal approach is a blend of both. Technology can supplement classroom teaching, while school environment is crucial for child’s emotional and social development.
In conclusion, while online platform offers flexibility and new ways to learn, school remain essential for developing well-rounded individuals. Therefore, I believe government should invest more in improving both local platform and physical schools rather than choosing one over other.
