These days, gender related topics have many controversial issues in the community. One of them is related to the different types of work that are suitable for each gender. Some people argue that men and women have different capabilities so they should have to work in different industries. Others believe that gender is equal and they are capable of finishing their work the same. Both of these views will be discussed further below.
In the past, there has been a lot of gender discrimination that is related to work type. Women are often viewed as having empathetic and softer personalities than men. This is why most of the women usually work as caregivers, teachers, and most of the domestic duties are delegated to women. In contrast, men are often viewed as having more power and stamina, so they mostly work in physical labor-related work, such as construction workers and the military.
On the other hand, many people believe that any gender is capable of getting their work done the same. Gender equality has also been a topic in the past few years, whereas some communities believe that women are equal to men. Nowadays there are many women who can work in the military and police that are mostly dominated by men. There are also many men who prefer to be a domestic worker or caregiver. Men and women have the same abilities to increase the skill in the job they are chosen for.
In my opinion, work should not be differentiated by gender. Jobs should focus on each individual’s personal skills. If jobs are chosen based on gender, it can waste a person’s potential value.
