In recent days, taxpayers’ money has played a vital role in the development of society. Some people believe that public tax revenue should be spent on roads and motorways rather than on government transport, while others disagree. In this essay, I will explain why I disagree with the above-mentioned statement and provide examples to support my position.
On one hand, a fully equipped and standardized vehicle is essential for travel, enabling enjoyable and safe journeys. This is because when individuals travel in high-quality transport, they experience a sense of happiness and peace of mind. For instance, if government transportation is poor in quality and lacks safety features, people may choose to hire private vehicles or use their own, increasing air pollution and negatively impacting the environment. Therefore, well-qualified and sophisticated vehicles are crucial for public safety and environmental well-being; thus, the government should allocate more funds for public transport.
On the other hand, other proponents advocate for increased state spending on building roads, bridges, and highways, which provide significant benefits for public safety. The reason for this is that they significantly reduce traffic during peak hours, thereby decreasing the likelihood of unnecessary accidents. However, while acknowledging the importance of constructing bridges and motorways, it is essential to recognize the practicality and long-term advantages of prioritizing standardized government transport over building new roads and highways. This suggests that ensuring the quality of vehicles consistently outweighs the benefits of constructing new bridges.
In conclusion, while it is true that new motorways lead to safer rides, the benefits of well-equipped transport far outweigh the idea of constructing new roads. Therefore, I strongly agree with the statement that investing more in public transport is more essential than establishing new roads.
