Many people are convinced that national news are more important than international news. I cannot agree with this statement because a person has to be informed about everything happening in the world.
Undoubtedly, I can understand why people tend to think that national news is more significant. There are different economical and political situations in each country, as well as different taxes and bills, mortgage rates, and cultural events. The general elections which are held in the country are certainly more important for a citizen rather than world events and elections in other countries.
However, we live in a world where the boundaries are being broken and all the nations are being integrated, which means that international news matters to us and plays a crucial role in our lives as well. There are some world problems which cannot be ignored by the population, such as poverty, terrorist attacks, the menace of the nuclear weapon. Environmental issues due to the CO2 emissions is the world problem as well, which can be solved only when people are united.
To conclude, I would say that globalisation is the main characteristic of the modern world and all the people have to accept this fact since there are numerous problems and difficulties that have to be overcome by the whole humanity. To my mind, people have to read international news to be aware of the world problems to stay safe.
