It is thought that only managers are capable of making decisions. While others think that all company members should participate in decision making. This essay will dive deeper into this debate.
To begin with, managers are people who are responsible for the company, so they should take the main role in regard of company’s decisions. Managers are specially trained to deal with serious dilemmas and consequences of their actions. Therefore, they are suitable to deal with decisions. However, putting all of the responsibility on a manager can be harmful in the long run, since managers are still human beings who make mistakes time to time. In this way, it can bring some unnecessary struggles and lead to a company’s failure. For instance, if a manager is in charge for important decision making without any support team to consult with, such system might cause harmful problems. This can be avoided if a manager organizes a discussion session with other employees and analyzes all the opinions.
There is no doubt that employees are as important as managers. Thus their opinion should be considered. Expressing opinions and ideas is a way for employees to show their intelligence and skills. Being able to show off thoughts and opinions about the company is crucial for every worker. Additionally, collective mind is a powerful tool. If a company ignores employees’ ideas, opinions and solutions, it may miss out on potential problem-solving opportunities. For example, a worker could think of a unique way of making a decision, which can be lifesaving for a company. However, if employee’s opinions are being ignored, this solution will never be heard and used for the company’s benefit.
In conclusion, managers are required to be responsible, but at times they might need to hear other worker’s opinions to make a correct decision. In my opinion, every employee should have an opportunity to express their thoughts. This will benefit both the company and workers.
