While some people consider that students should concentrate more on essential subjects, others think youngsters ought to learn cooking skills and gain knowledge about nutrition. In this essay, I will discuss both of these views, from which my judgment will be drawn.
On the one hand, learning food science and its preparation equips students with crucial skills that facilitate their independent university life. Precisely, by having a solid understanding of nutrition, students can set up a healthy and balanced diet, which will greatly benefit their physical health. Besides, this knowledge allows youngsters to combine and preserve their meals appropriately. This ensures the well-being of their digestive system as well as prevents them from food-related problems such as obesity and food poisoning. Moreover, good food preparation and cooking skills aid students in overcoming obstacles without parental assistance. In other words, they can adapt better to a new living environment, starting with the most basic need: eating.
On the other hand, major subjects benefit students’ tertiary education and future employment as well. Academic subjects provide students with solid background knowledge, enabling them to pursue their undergraduate program successfully. Without this knowledge, students will find their educational path struggling and, they even fail in the middle of their journey. Besides, these subjects develop their minds in various aspects. To be specific, natural subjects foster students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while social ones help students develop their communication and interpersonal skills. Undoubtedly, these skills allow them to establish stronger relationships in a new school environment as well as in their future jobs.
In conclusion, I believe that both a combination of academic and survival skills is perfect for a youngster’s future for their various benefits; hence, students need to improve those needs at the same time to become good residents in the years to come.
