In this day and age, some people think technological development decreases crime, while others believe it encourages crimes. This essay will take a look at both sides of the argument and give an overall viewpoint.
On the one hand, the higher technological development, the higher protection. This is because when technology level is high, people will have more ways to protect themselves such as two steps verification, face ID or even eye ID. Making crimes may find it harder to steal information from a specific individual. In addition, security forces these days also have to learn how to apply technology into protection or tracking methods.
On the other hand, advancement of technology also urges social vice. Using technology to criminal behaviour compared with crimes in the past, they are much harder to be tracked or exposed. For instance, there are several people who use fake information for scamming today, especially phone numbers, they may use fake information, situation, or even voice changer to mimic someone to ask the victim for money then scam it.
Personally, I think not only technological development decreases crime but also encourages it. To minimize the social vice rate, making sure everyone, especially those who seem easier to be a victim like old people or children, have knowledge about high tech criminals plays an important role. Additionally, advancements in technology are required for security forces.
In conclusion, technology both reduces and enables crime. While it strengthens security and helps track criminals, it also creates new ways for crimes to occur. To limit risks, we must educate vulnerable groups and train security forces in tech use.
